A positive attitude can make your dreams come true!! -It did for me" Though I am pursuing an MBA in Human Resources, becoming a well known writer was my secret ambition. My writing skills were always appreciated and encouraged by my mentors. I used to write inmy leisure time or whenever I felt the urge to, but never took it as a serious profession.

While pursuing my post-graduation at MILE, I got an opportunity to become a qualified editor from London Writer's Bureau Association, Manchester. I was invited to attend a three day conference in London where I had the opportunity to meet well known editors and other aspiring young writers. I am now qualified to write for international dailies as well as columns in certain magazines. It has been an adventurous,rich experience for me. This has paved a way for an alternate corporate career in corporate communicationand public relations.

MILE has been extremely encouraging in helping me realize my dreams and passion. MILE has given me great support in linking my profession with my vocation.

Truly Amazing!!! Truly Enlightening!! London it was!!! MILE IT IS...!!

Awarded Best Management Trainee at Firstsource Solutions Ltd.

"If you know the end, you can surely choose the road, but if you do not know the end then it doesn't matter which road you walk."

My Journey with Firstsource Solutions Ltd. started as a Management Trainee and I was not even aware where I was heading when it started.

Firstsource Solutions Ltd. selects Management Trainees(MTs) every year from Top B- Schools like SCMHRD, SIBM Pune, SIBM Bangalore, SITM, IMI Delhi, Tapmi Manipal, Goa Institute of Management, MILE and SIMS.

Firstsource Solutions Ltd. has a very structured one year MT Program, which starts with a Boot Camp and is followed by three Projects along with BAU:

» Operations Assimilations Project
» Functional project
» Cross Functional Project

In the above, only Operations Assimilation Project is a common platform where all the MTs from different departments work with operations to understand how BPO business works. All the MTs submit a report at the end of their six weeks stint detailing their learning, finding, observation and recommendation on a process. The report submitted is judged on the basis of depth of findings, presentation, communication, coverage of all aspects and analysis and recommendation suggested. The functional project was in my own department of work force management while the cross-functional project was in another department. In these, rating is done by the managers respectively on the basis of the work done.

After completion of one year, like all the MTs I was also waiting for the day when MTs were to be redesignated as Assistant Managers. In my case the day came with a surprise of getting the Best MT award and also an award for the Best Operations Assimilation project. After completion of fifteen months in my first job, I can say that the journey with Firstsource Solutions Ltd. has been a learning experience with a team which is considered to be the backbone of a BPO. Work Force Management is a very niche profile which requires good analytical, logical and mathematical skills.
My journey as an MT has been tough. I have been changing roles in the department from time to time as per the requirement but the end result has been awesome and nothing could have been better than that. I express my thanks to MILE and Dr. Samir Kapoor for providing me an opportunity with a department where I can use my capabilities and enjoy the work.

"A realistic attitude & passion for work always pushes an individual a step ahead of others. Who says that only a person with definite goals can succeed? Its mostly true but not always. Sometimes the will to do something passionately is more important than making any goals. With a combination of hard work, honesty and a positive attitude one can achieve anything. This is the asset that MILE has offered me & has changed me for good".

Miles to go before I sleep...
The SHRM Annual Conference is the biggest destination for HR Professionals. Every HR
professional dreams to make a presence in the hall of fame and this June in Atlanta I lived my dream.

Two months ago, while reading about these people, I thought meeting them was far beyond my reach. But now, after attending this conference, I have met, interacted with and been introduced to CEO's, Global HR Heads, HR Academicians and other dignitaries of global corporate stature. Being the only student across the globe to attend this conference made me feel more privileged.

I wish to express my sincere gratitude to MILE & to Dr. Samir Kapoor for giving me this unique and enlightening opportunity.

I have learnt a lot in MILE & still have more to explore.
